An Aussie Wins the Masters....

Well I must say after watching as much of the Masters as I could possible fit into my weekend it was defiantly one for the record books.  A 14 year old competed and made the cut being the youngest golfer to ever do this!  I just hope this gives you young viewers the motivation you need to get out on the links and give it your best.  An Australian won the Masters and became the first Aussie to ever win the Masters. I love watching Adam Scott play it’s his coolness and his concentration that has me watching him day after day.  His ability to smile and joke around has me in awe.  The way he handled himself in the playoff really goes to show you that at age 32 he has it all.   

Then there was the controversy over Tiger Woods and the 2 stroke penalty assessed and him not being disqualified.  Leave your comments below on what you think should be done and I will address it in my next post.  All in all the Masters was nothing short of drama which allows us to be glued to our TVs on Sunday for 6 hours and not feel guilty about it at all.  I love the fact that it went to a playoff it just goes to show you how hard this tournament is to win. 

 

Adam Scott said in an interview following this win: “Well, it was a split-second I thought I’d won,” he said. “You never count your chickens, but that’s the putt we’ve seen so many guys make to win — O’Meara comes to mind — and it was time to step and see what I was made of.”  If you didn’t really know who Adam Scott was before the Masters then you were seriously missing out.  I have been a fan of him for years and just wanted him to win that big tournament to get his name in there with the greats!

Bubba....Bubba....Bubba Watson...

Today’s post is all about Bubba Watson in honour of the Masters this week with him being defending champion I thought it was only appropriate to show you how Bubba has been spending the last year of his life since winning the Masters.

Dress Code for Courses Decoded...

I find that people are always curious and calling out to our ProShop to ask what is appropriate to wear at our golf club.  Below is a guideline for what to wear and what NOT to wear….

The bottom of your trousers should kiss the top of your shoes.  The reasoning for this is because if they were any longer they get wet and make for an uncomfortable round.

Since the weather is typically warm when most golfers hit the links shorts are a common choice.  The guidelines with shorts are that they should fall to just above your kneecaps. Remember that when shorts are too long they look sloppy and too short is not attractive and should be left in the 80s.  I know this can be difficult for ladies so change things up with a skort or keep it safe with capri’s.

  

Outerwear is key to getting through a round where temperatures aren’t necessarily what we signed up for.  The most important fit is outerwear and is commonly worn to big.  Oversized clothing does not allow you to swing as freely as you need to hit the ball as clean as you wish.  Outerwear and rainwear should be a trim fit.

If there’s one thing that you want to buy to get your wardrobe ready for the 2013 season is a golf staple: a pair of khakis.  They go with everything and look crisp and fresh for a round of golf.

Colour is evident for the 2013 season.  Some rules to follow by are:

•  If your wearing a bright colour on top be sure to wear a solid neutral colour on bottom.
•  If your wearing a bright pant be sure to wear a neutral colour top.
• Patterns are great but be sure to pick ONE colour from the pattern for either your pant or shirt. 
• Belts are to match your golf shirt not your shoes.

 

The Don’ts of Golf Dress Code

• Don’t leave your shirt untucked it looks sloppy and should be left for a night out with friends.
• Try to refrain from wearing Cargo shorts to the golf course.  They look sloppy and ruin your image.
• Don’t bother trying to get onto a golf course especially a private golf course without a collar.
• Don’t think that baggy shirts look good.  Golf is all about the right fit.
• Same thing goes for baggy pants they should be left for the Rap singers and not worn to a golf course.

   

Which Bridgestone Golf Ball To Pick...???

Bridgestone golf has a very fun and interact website for selecting which type of Bridgestone golf ball is best for your game.  If you go into their Ball Selection Guide you have to answer the following questions:

1.      WHAT BRAND OF GOLF BALL DO YOU CURRENTLY PLAY?

a.      From there you must select which golf ball within that Brand ie. Titleist – Pro V1.

2.      Select your gender

3.      Select your age

4.      Report your Driving Distance

5.      Your average score

6.      Your shot : fade, slice, hook etc

7.      Your shot trajectory: high, low etc 

Once you answer these questions a type of golf ball will come up on the right side.  However it changes as you answer the questions so make sure you answer all of them so they can give you the best answer.  This gives you a better idea of what type of golf ball is best for your game when you go into a ProShop to stock up on golf balls for the season.
